Clearing the Summer Calendar

At the time of this posting, we have 15 1/2 days left of school. Cue the rapid Costco snack stock up and block off the Fridays for beach time.

If you’re starting to feel that little anxious rumble in your gut, trust me, I get it. Summer is knocking at our door and with the kiddos home, the sun shining, and your business needing you, it can feel like you're being pulled in a million different directions. Here's the thing: you're an incredible mom, a great CEO, and you deserve to savor every bit of this sweet season. So, let's chat about four ways you can clear your calendar, still crush it in your business, and create those priceless summer memories.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work: If you haven't already, it's time to lean into the power of delegation. You've built an amazing business, and it's okay to share the load! Consider hiring a virtual assistant or outsourcing tasks to other professionals. Think about the tasks that eat up your time and don't necessarily need your personal touch. Bookkeeping, social media management, and customer service – these are things you can delegate! Freeing up these hours will not only give you more time to enjoy with your family, but it'll also let you focus on the big-picture strategy for your business. For me, this looks like having part time child care (ahem, #GrammyCamp), utlitizing my amazing Assistant Meg for personal tasks, and hiring a part time community manager for Coworking House.

Block Scheduling: As a busy mompreneur, you understand the power of a well-planned day. But, let's take it a step further. Start block scheduling – that means dedicating specific chunks of time to different types of work or activities. Maybe mornings are for focused business tasks, afternoons are for family time, and evenings are for unwinding. Creating these boundaries helps you be present in the moment, whether you're brainstorming your next big launch or building the world's best sandcastle. Personally, I do my best creating in the morning, and love to take every Friday off to go to the beach with the kids. I’m determined to get up on the surfboard this year!

Automate, Automate, Automate: If you're not already on the automation train, now's the time to buy your ticket. From email marketing to appointment scheduling and client onboarding – there's a myriad of tools out there designed to save you time. Setting these up might take a bit of effort upfront, but the time (and sanity) it'll save you, in the long run, is priceless. So you can sip your iced coffee, watch the kids frolic in the sprinkler, and know your business is still running smoothly. I use Flodesk.com to automate a LOT of my newsletter and marketing, if you need a starting point, or you can grab my free Email Templates for Busy CEOs and make your inbox a no-stress zone.

Say "No" to Say "Yes": Lastly, and this might be the hardest one, you've got to get comfortable with saying "no." Not every opportunity is the right fit, and that's okay. Every time you say "no" to something that doesn't align with your goals, you're saying "yes" to something that does – like a spontaneous ice cream run with the kids or a quiet evening with a good book.

Remember, summer is a season of renewal, for both you and your business. It's a time to enjoy the fruits of your labor (literally and figuratively), and create memories that will last a lifetime.

And please, if you're looking to simplify your social media content for the summer season, I've got just the thing!
